A cooler room, an earlier coffee cutoff and ten slow breaths do more than a new mattress.
Sleep trouble rarely has one cause, so it rarely has one fix. These five changes are small enough to start tonight.
Keep the bedroom cool, around 65°F. Stop caffeine by noon. Put your phone across the room. Get ten minutes of daylight before 10 AM. And when you lie down, take ten slow breaths with a longer exhale than inhale.
If you still wake at 3 AM most nights after two weeks, that is worth a visit. We look at stress, pain and hormones, not just the pillow.
